केरल के कन्नूर जिले के कोत्तियूर में एक चर्च के पादरी द्वारा नाबालिग लड़की के साथ कथित बलात्कार की घटना से जुड़े तथ्यों को छुपाने वाले अभियुक्तों ने शुक्रवार को पुलिस के सामने आत्मसमर्पण कर दिया है। आरोपी फादर रॉबिन मैथ्यू को पुलिस गिरफ्तार कर चुकी है।
बता दें इस कथित अपराध का तब पता लगा जब कोत्तियूर के पास नींदुनोक्की निवासी 16 वर्षीय लड़की ने सात फरवरी को कूथुपारम्बा के एक निजी अस्पताल में एक लड़के को जन्म दिया। ‘चाइल्डलाइन’ से मिली एक सूचना के आधार पर पुलिस ने लड़की और उसके अभिभावकों से पूछताछ की। शुरुआत में लड़की के पिता ने पुलिस को बताया कि उसके गर्भवती होने के लिए पादरी जिम्मेदार है।
पहले फरार चल रहे मैथ्यू को थिसूर जिले में चलाकुड्डी से पकड़ा गया और यहां लाया गया। पुलिस को यह भी पता चला कि शिशु को वयनाड जिले में व्यिथरी के एक अनाथालय में छोड़ दिया गया। उसे कल यहां एक सरकारी अनाथालय में भेजा गया।
हालांकि इसमें कुछ गड़बड़ी की आशंका के चलते पुलिस ने लड़की के पिता से आगे पूछताछ की, जिसमें उसने खुलासा किया कि इस अपराध के लिए फादर रॉबिन मैथ्यू जिम्मेदार है।
आरोपी पादरी उसी स्कूल में बतौर मैनेजर तैनात था, जहां पीड़िता पढ़ती थी। पीड़िता की मानें तो आरोपी पादरी ने एक दिन उसके अकेले होने का फायदा उठाकर उसके साथ रेप किया था। बदनामी के डर से उसने ये बात किसी को नहीं बताई। जिसके बाद वह प्रेग्नेंट हो गई और पिछले हफ्ते ही उसने एक बच्चे को जन्म दिया।

पीड़िता के परिजनों की शिकायत पर पुलिस ने आरोपी पादरी रॉबिन के खिलाफ आईपीसी की धारा-376 और पोस्को एक्ट के तहत मामला दर्ज कर उसे गिरफ्तार कर लिया है। पुलिस के मुताबिक, आरोपी रॉबिन ने पुलिस पूछताछ में अपना जुर्म कबूल कर लिया है।
पुलिस ने बताया कि कोत्तियूर में सेंट सेबेस्टियंस चर्च के 48 वर्षीय फादर रॉबिन मैथ्यू को कल रात हिरासत में लिया गया और भादंसं की धारा 376 और यौन अपराधों से बच्चों के संरक्षण (पोक्सो) अधिनियम के तहत उसे गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया।
