आज रविवार को मोदी सरकार का तीसरा और शायद आखिरी विस्तार किया गया। इस विस्तार में कुल 13 मंत्रियों ने शपथ ली। 9 नए मंत्रियों को शामिल किया गया जबकि 4 मंत्रियों को कैबिनेट मंत्री के रूप में प्रमोशन दिया गया।
केंद्रीय मंत्रालय में फेरबदल के बाद प्रमोट हुए मंत्रियों और शामिल हुए नए चेहरों को मंत्रालयों की कमान सौंप दी गई है। निर्मला सीतारमण को रक्षा मंत्रालय दिया गया है, वहीं लंबे समय से इस्तीफे की पेशकश के बाद सुर्खियों में रहे सुरेश प्रभु को वाणिज्य मंत्रालय सौंपा गया है, जबकि रेल मंत्रालय पीयूष गोयल को दिया गया है।

निर्मला सीतारमण को अरुण जेटली की जगह रक्षा मंत्रालय की जिम्मेदारी दी गई है। जेटली के पास रक्षा मंत्रालय का अतिरिक्त प्रभार था। जेटली के पास वित्त मंत्रालय भी है। पूर्व पीएम इंदिरा गांधी के बाद निर्मला सीतारमण देश की दूसरी महिला रक्षा मंत्री होंगी। हालांकि इंदिरा गाँधी ने प्रधानमंत्री रहते हुए रक्षा मंत्रालय की जिम्मेदारी संभाली थी।

मोदी कैबिनेट में सीतारमण के रक्षामंत्री पद की शपथ लेते ही बधाइयों का तांता लग गया। सीतारमण को ट्विटर पर पीएम समेत कई लोगों ने बधाइयां दी।
पीएम मोदी ने सीतारमण को रक्षामंत्री बनने की ढेर सारी मुबारकबाद दी। पीएम मोदी ने कहा कि मैं अपने सहकर्मियों को यूनियन कैबिनेट में शामिल होने पर बधाई देता हूं।
कश्मीरी नेता उमर अब्दुल्ला ने भी सीतारमण को ट्वीट के जरिए बधाई दी है। उमर अब्दुल्ला ने ट्वीट करते हुए कहा कि ‘वाह सीधे एमओएस से कैबिनेट मंत्रिमंडल की रक्षा सीट तक पहुंचने के लिये बहुत-बहुत शुभकामनाएं, वेल डन सीतारमण जी।’

इससे पहले हफ्तों की बैठक और विचार विमर्श के बाद आज केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल का विस्तार किया गया। पीएम मोदी और बीजेपी अध्यक्ष अमित शाह ने नए मंत्रियों का नाम तय किया था।
इस सूची में एनडीए के सहयोगी जेडीयू और शिवसेना को शामिल नहीं किया गया है। खबरों के मुताबिक उन्हें बाद में मंत्रिमंडल में शामिल किया जा सकता है। हालांकि शिवसेना के नाराजगी जताते हुए शपथग्रहण समारोह का बहिष्कार किया। कुल 13 मंत्रियों ने पद एवं गोपनीयता की शपथ ली।
कैबिनेट में यूपी-बिहार के 2-2 और केरल, कर्नाटक, मध्य प्रदेश, राजस्थान से एक-एक नए मंत्री बनाए गए हैं। इसके अलावा 4 मंत्रियों को कैबिनेट रैंक में प्रमोशन मिला है। पेट्रोलियम मंत्री धर्मेंद्र प्रधान, संसदीय कार्य राज्य मंत्री मुख्तार अब्बास नकवी, ऊर्जा मंत्री पीयूष गोयल और वाणिज्य मंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण ने कैबिनेट मंत्री की शपथ ली।
