आज पूरी दुनिया में इजरायल की बहादुरी का भले ही डंका बजता हो लेकिन प्रथम विश्व युद्ध में जोधपुर के रणबांकुरों ने मेजर दलपत सिंह के नेतृत्व में उनके हैफा शहर को चंद घंटों में जर्मन और तुर्की की सेना के कब्जे से मुक्त करवा दिया था। इन जांबाजों के बहादुरी के किस्से अब इजरायल के बच्चे स्कूलों में पढ़ रहे है।
हैफा (इजरायल) का युद्ध 23 सितम्बर 1918-
प्रथम विश्व युद्ध के दौरान मध्य पूर्व एशिया के सबसे महत्वपूर्ण युद्ध के 23 सितम्बर को 98 साल पूरे हो रहे है।प्रथम विश्वयुद्ध में ब्रिटिश व जर्मनी की सेनाएं प्रमुख थी। जर्मनी व तुर्की की गठबंधन सेना ने हैफा के दुर्ग पर कब्जा कर लिया।
ब्रिटिश सेना की तरफ से इस युद्ध में भाग ले रही जोधपुर और मैसूर लांसर को हैफा पर फिर से कब्जा जमाने की जिम्मेदारी सौंपी गई। नेतृत्व कर रहे थे जोधपुर लांसर के मेजर दलपतसिंह
शेखावत और कैप्टन अमान सिंह जोधा।
पहाड़ी पर स्थित हैफा के किले पर काबिज जर्मन सेना लगातार मशीनगन से गोलीबारी कर रही थी। वहीं जोधपुर की सेना के पास सिर्फ नाम मात्र की बंदूकें ही थी।
मेजर दलपत सिंह के नेतृत्व में जोधपुर की सेना आगे बढ़ी तो जर्मन सेना ने गोलियों की बौछार कर दी। उन्हें एक बार पीछे हटना पड़ा।
इसके पश्चात उन्होंने अलग दिशा से चढ़ाई शुरू की। इस दौरान मैसूर लांसर की सेना लगातार फायरिंग कर उन्हें कवर प्रदान किया। इस युद्ध में जोधपुर की टुकड़ी ने जर्मन व तुर्की सेना को पराजित कर किले पर कब्जा कर लिया।
इस युद्ध में उन्होंने 1350 जर्मन व तुर्क सैनिकों को बंदी बना लिया। इसमें से से 35 अधिकारी भी शामिल थे। सैनिकों से ग्यारह मशीनगन के साथ ही बड़ी संख्या में हथियार जब्त किए गए। भीषण युद्ध में सीधी चढ़ाई करने के दौरान जोधपुर लांसर के मेजर दलपतसिंह गंभीर रूप से घायल हो गए।
इसके बावजूद उन्होंने प्रयास नहीं छोड़ा। इस युद्ध में दलपतसिंह सहित जोधपुर के आठ सैनिक शहीद हुए। जबकि साठ घोड़े भी मारे गए।
प्रथम विश्व युद्ध की इस महत्वपूर्ण लड़ाई की याद में भारतीय सेना हर वर्ष 23 सितम्बर को हैफा दिवस के रूप में मनाती है। 23 सितंबर, 1918 को दिन में 2 बजे जोधपुर लांसर व मैसूर लांसर के घुड़सवारों ने हैफा शहर पर चढ़ाई की और एक घंटे में ही हैफा शहर के दुर्ग पर विजय पताका फहरा दी।
भारतीय शूरवीरों ने जर्मन- तुर्की सेना के 700 सैनिकों को युद्धबंदी बना लिया. इनमें 23 तुर्की तथा 2 जर्मन अफसर भी थे. वहीं 17 तोपें, 11 मशीनगन व हजारों की संख्या में जिंदा कारतूस भी जब्त किए गए. घुड़सवार हमले का यह निर्णायक युद्ध था।
23 सितम्बर को जोधपुर लांसर्स के हमले में तुर्की सेना के पांव उखाडऩे में मेजर शहीद दलपत सिंह शेखावत की अहम भूमिका रही। उन्हें मिलिट्री क्रॉस से सम्मानित किया गया। कैप्टन अमान सिंह बहादुर, दफादार जोरसिंह को इंडियन ऑर्डर ऑफ मेरिट एवं कैप्टन अनोप सिंह व सैकण्ड लेफ्टीनेंट सगतसिंह को मिलिट्री क्रॉस से नवाजा गया।
दलपत सिंह ने तुर्की सेना की तोपों का मुंह उन्हीं की ओर मोड़ते हुए जबरदस्त वीरता का परिचय दिया था। एेसे में उन्हें हीरो ऑफ हैफा के नाम से पूरा इजराइल इतिहास की पाठ्यपुस्तकों में पढ़ता है।
दिल्ली स्थित तीन मूर्ति स्मारक इसी युद्ध के शहीदों को समर्पित है. 23 सितम्बर को इन्ही वीर सैनिको की याद मे हमारी सेना हैफा दिवस मानती है। हैफा में भी इसी दिन कार्यक्रम आयोजित किए जाते है, जो एक सप्ताह तक चलते हैं। दो वर्ष पश्चात इस युद्ध के सौ वर्ष पूरे होने के उपलक्ष में इजरायल सरकार वृहद स्तर पर समारोह आयोजित करने की योजना बना रही है।
