मोदी कैबिनेट के विस्तार से पहले गुरुवार शाम छह केंद्रीय मंत्रियों ने एक के बाद एक इस्तीफे दे दिए। इस्तीफ़ा देने वाले मंत्रियों में उमा भारती, कलराज मिश्र, राजीव प्रताप रूडी, संजीव बाल्यान, महेंद्रनाथ पांडेय और निर्मला सीतारमण के नाम शामिल हैं।

इन सभी मंत्रियों ने दिन में भाजपा अध्यक्ष अमित शाह से मुलाकात भी की थी। देर शाम अमित शाह की मौजूदगी में इन्होंने संगठन महासचिव रामलाल को अपने इस्तीफे सौंपे।
अभी तय नहीं है कि नए मंत्री कब शपथ लेंगे, पर नरेंद्र मोदी 3 सितंबर को चीन रवाना हो रहे हैं। इसलिए रविवार दोपहर से पहले शपथ ग्रहण समारोह होने के आसार हैं।
मोदी कैबिनेट में मंत्रियों के विभागों के बदले जाने से लेकर कुछ पुराने मंत्रियों की छुट्टी और नए चेहरों की एंट्री होने वाली है। सड़क परिवहन मंत्री नितिन गडकरी को रेल मंत्रालय का प्रभार मिल सकता है।

सूत्रों के मुताबिक राजीव प्रताप रूडी को संगठन में कोई बड़ा पद मिल सकता है। मंत्रिपरिषद में फेरबदल का उद्देश्य अच्छा प्रदर्शन करने वालों को इनाम देना और फिसड्डियों को सजा देना माना जा रहा है।
संसदीय कार्य मंत्री अनंत कुमार को शहरी विकास मंत्रालय दिए जाने की अटकलें हैं। पहले यह मंत्रालय वेंकैया नायडू के पास था, फिलहाल इसका अतिरिक्त प्रभार ग्रामीण विकास मंत्री नरेंद्र सिंह तोमर के पास है।
सूत्रों के अनुसार कैबिनेट फेरबदल में मोदी-शाह की जोड़ी का फोकस नए सामाजिक समीकरणों पर रहेगा। ओबीसी मुद्दे पर लगातार संदेश दे रही सरकार कुछ नई जातियों के चेहरों को सरकार में जगह दे सकती है। भाजपा अध्यक्ष अमित शाह ने सांसदों की सूची पर तीन दिन तक मंथन किया।
प्रधानमंत्री के साथ भी कई बैठकें कीं। गुरुवार रात भी दोनों ने संभावित नामों पर चर्चा की। रक्षा मंत्री का भी काम संभाल रहे जेटली ने कहा कि वह अब ज्यादा दिन रक्षा मंत्री नहीं रहेंगे।

इस समय रक्षा, पर्यावरण, शहरी विकास, सूचना एवं प्रसारण जैसे मंत्रालय बिना किसी फुल टाइम मंत्री के हैं। चूंकि अगले लोकसभा चुनाव में 2 साल से भी कम का वक्त बचा है इसलिए प्रधानमंत्री मोदी का फोकस परफॉर्मेंस पर है।
ऐसा माना जा रहा है कि 2019 से पहले यह मंत्रिपरिषद में आखिरी बदलाव होगा। इस कवायद का उद्देश्य न सिर्फ अहम मंत्रालयों को फुल टाइम मंत्री देना है बल्कि अच्छा प्रदर्शन करने वालों को इनाम और फिसड्डी प्रदर्शन करने वालों को सजा देना भी है।

राष्ट्रपति रामनाथ कोविंद शनिवार शाम को तिरुपति से लौटेंगे। इसके बाद वह रविवार को गुजरात के 2 दो दिवसीय यात्रा पर रवाना होंगे। प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी अगले सप्ताह चीन के लिए रवाना होंगे। वहीं 6 सितंबर से पितृपक्ष शुरू हो रहा है, जिसमें ज्यादातर अहम काम जैसे खरीदारी, शादी वगैरह नहीं किए जाते क्योंकि पितृपक्ष को इन कामों के लिए शुभ नहीं माना जाता। ऐसे में अगर रविवार को मोदी मंत्रिपरिषद में फेरबदल नहीं हुआ तो इसे पितृपक्ष के बाद तक टाला जा सकता है।
